Today I saddled up one last time alongside the cast of Talking With at Stageworks Theatre for one final rodeo.
This show has been so special for a multitude of reasons. It was my first professional show. It fell on graduation weekend so my entire family got to see me perform (which hadn’t happened EVER before). It was in Tampa so I was able to perform with so many friends and classmates in the audience to cheer me on. But most importantly, the cast of this show made it so special.
We celebrated a birthday, two graduations, and a baby shower. The countless conversations backstage, on breaks, in the dressing rooms are ones that I will treasure dearly. They are some of the kindest, most talented, and wonderful people I have had the pleasure to work with. Sitting backstage and seeing them all share their stories for one last time was just so moving. How lucky I was to finally be able to see what the eleven audiences we performed for were able to see.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support our show! It means the world to me that you took time out of your busy lives to spend a night at the theatre.
Big Eight (‘cause who the hell is Lurlene): thank you for teaching me what it means to be so passionate about something that when it’s taken away from you, it feels like you just can’t go on. That all you see is red. And for helping make me and others aware of the loss of tradition and culture that takes place every day.
Here’s to Talking With!
