I am honored to say that today I have graduated from The University of Tampa with my BFA in Musical Theatre and BA in International Studies with a concentration in political economy with Magna Cum Laude honors. It was so wonderful to celebrate all of the many accomplishments of the graduates surrounded by family and friends.
I am sure not many are surprised that I have selected some sort of Come From Away lyric to represent my feelings about graduation, but you might be wondering why I did not select: "You Are Here at the End of a Moment." I mean, it's right there just ready to be used!
Although my graduation marks the end of a chapter of my life, it is just the beginning to so much more. With a degree in Musical Theatre and International Studies and Political Economy, the possibilities are truly endless.
As I begin to move into the next chapter of my life, I am excited to see what all is in store for me. My aspiration as an artist has always been to "tell a more beautiful story," using the arts as a way to foster cultural understanding, bring communities together, and to celebrate the stories that art, music, and theatre allow us to share with people all over the world. I hope that wherever I land professionally, regardless of the field I end up working in, I will be able to do just that: share stories with others that inspire and encourage them to live their lives enthusiastically.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to celebrate these past four years today and congratulations to all of the other graduates.
